Privacy Policy

Effective: September 12, 2026. Updated October 5, 2026 to describe the page-view counter (see "Page-view counter" below).

Choose Tonight's Game (choosetonightsgame.com) is operated by Surry Village Creations LLC, a New Hampshire limited liability company ("we", "us", "our").

This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Questions go to surryvillagecreations@gmail.com.

What we collect

When you sign in with Google, we receive and store your email address, your Google account identifier, and your display name. We never see or store your Google password. We request only the openid, email, and profile scopes — we have no access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts, calendar, or anything else in your Google account.

When you use the site, we store the games you submit to the catalog, the games on your shelf, and any private notes or house rules you attach to them.

Automatically, we set one essential, signed cookie on every visitor. It holds a random form-security token and, if you sign in, an opaque session identifier. It holds no personal information and exists only to keep forms safe and to keep you signed in. Our hosting provider records standard server logs including IP addresses, timestamps, and browser user-agent strings.

Page-view counter. When you open one of our public pages (the home page, the picker, the catalog, a game page, or these policies), our server adds one to a tally for that page and that day (for example, "/catalog" on October 5). If your browser tells us which other website sent you here, we also add one to a tally for that website's domain name only (for example, "google.com"); we do not keep the full address of the page you came from. That is everything the counter stores. The tallies contain no cookie, no IP address, no browser or device details, and nothing that identifies or follows you; they are not linked to your account, whether or not you are signed in. Requests that identify themselves as automated programs are not counted, and pages meant only for signed-in people (your shelf, account and submissions) are not counted at all. Tallies are deleted after 90 days, and only the site operator, its moderators and its automated assistant can see the counts, and only as totals. The counter runs on our own server: no third-party script or service is involved.

We do not collect advertising identifiers, tracking pixels, location data, or browsing activity outside this site. We use no third-party analytics service and load no third-party scripts; the only counting we do is the page-view counter described above. We do not permit image uploads. There is no field anywhere in our database for a photograph.

How we use it

We use your Google account details to sign you in and to attribute your catalog submissions for moderation. We use your shelf and notes to show them back to you. We use your email address to contact you about your account or changes to these terms. We use server logs for security and debugging. We use the page-view tallies to see which pages are used and where visitors come from, so we can improve the catalog.

We do not sell personal information, share it for advertising, or profile you.

Legal bases

Where the GDPR applies, we process your account and shelf data to perform our contract with you, and we process server logs and moderation records under our legitimate interest in operating a secure and accurate service.

Who we share it with

Provider Role Location
Render Application hosting and database United States
Cloudflare DNS and content delivery Global
Google Sign-in, only when you choose to use it United States

We may disclose information where required by law. If the service is sold, information may transfer to the buyer, who would remain bound by this policy or give you notice of any change.

What's public and what isn't

Game entries you submit become publicly visible once approved by a moderator. They contain factual information only — title, year, player count, playing time, age, complexity, and tags.

Some entries are drafted by an automated assistant from public data sources (such as Wikidata) and are published only after a moderator approves them. The sources it used are recorded for the moderator and are not shown on the site.

Your name is never displayed on the catalog. We do not attribute contributions publicly.

Your shelf, your notes, and your house rules are private and visible only to you. Your email address is never shown to anyone.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. When you do, we permanently delete your email address, Google identifier, display name, shelf, notes, house rules, and sessions.

Games you contributed to the catalog remain in the catalog, with all links to you removed. What remains is factual information about a board game, attached to nobody. This is how we honour both your right to erasure and the integrity of a shared catalog that other people rely on.

Server logs are retained by our hosting provider for a short period, typically 30 days, and then deleted. Page-view tallies are not tied to you and are deleted after 90 days.

Your rights

You may access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, object to processing, or withdraw consent. Email surryvillagecreations@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Most of these you can do yourself: your shelf and notes are editable in the app, and account deletion is self-servicing through the account menu.

Children

This service is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 16 has created an account, email surryvillagecreations@gmail.com and we will delete it.

Security

All traffic uses HTTPS. Sign-in is handled by Google; we never see your password. Session identifiers are opaque, stored server-side as hashes rather than in a readable form, and can be revoked. Access to the production database is limited to the operator.

No system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International transfers

Our servers are in the United States. If you use the site from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed there.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date and emailed to registered users at least 30 days before taking effect.
